Pre-Woodsman manufactured by Colt in 1919. The left side of the slide is stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/ CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE", with the top of the barrel bearing Colt's earlier 2-line address "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./ PATENTED DEC. 22. 1903.". The frame is inscribed on the front grip strap "C. M. Moorley". Metal components are blued, while the frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. 6 - 1/2" barrel with adjustable slight bead front sight and adjustable "U" notch rear sight. This example is accompanied by a custom period wood display case featuring a green velvet interior and containing 2 spare magazines and a box of original Remington UMC Kleanbore ammunition. CONDITION: Very good overall, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some mild edge wear, as well as some scattered superficial marks from storage and handling. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing but are otherwise fine. The case exhibits some scattered handling marks and some mild losses to its lacquered finish but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable.
