Lot consists of: (A) Unmarked Civil War era Model 1840 cavalry saber in standard configuration complete with heavy iron scabbard. Blade is bright with evidence of older cleaning and scattered blemishes. Hilt also exhibits older cleaning. Leather grip exhibits wear with tight brass wire. Scabbard exhibits a chocolate patina with scattered blemishes throughout its length. CONDITION: Good. (B) Civil War era Model 1840 cavalry saber in standard configuration complete with heavy iron scabbard. Blade is marked "HORSTMANN'S / PHILA" and exhibits a gray patina. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with leather grip that displays intact leather and tight brass wire. Scabbard has been painted black and exhibits areas of wear with scattered dents after the middle mount. CONDITION: Good. (C) Presentation grade M1840 artillery saber Type-2 with non-recessed throat. The blade is decorated for about half its length with patriotic and floral motifs. Ricasso is marked by Schuyler Hartley & Graham. Hilt is presentation grade with floral motifs, including flower pommel. Leather-wrapped wood grip with tight brass wire. Blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes. Hilt exhibits a mellow patina with intact grip and tight brass wire. Complete with scabbard with nicely browned finished scabbard and foliate brass mounts. Scabbard exhibits a pleasing patina that matches the sword. CONDITION: Good.
