An excellent example of a US Civil War era presentation grad non-regulation model of 1847 officer's sword. The sword features a 29" blade with both large and smaller fuller that travel the length of the blade. Spine is marked with classic Klingenthal cursive and blade is etched for about half its length with floral and patriotic motifs. Hilt is brass and the guard is in the non-regulation type French combination of Naval and Chasseur's style with rococo embellishment. White sharkskin grip supported by a model 1860 cavalry style backstrap with cast and chased embellishment. Complete with brass scabbard that is engraved with foliate designs at the suspension ring bands and drag on the obverse side. The blade exhibits a light patina with scattered blemishes that do not detract from the etchings. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with traces of gilding and intact grip. Scabbard exhibits a bright finish with scattered fingerprint impressions, scuffs, and a few small dents throughout its length. CONDITION: Very good.
