32" chain Damascus barrel with dovetail lumps are equipped with a solid, concave, tapering rib with brass bead front sight, anti-glare matting, doll's head rib extension, and "By, Richard Ellis & Son. Makers. St. Marys Row. Birmingham. Eng.", barrels inlaid in gold wire "Made For Charles Naber / St Louis" in Gothic script. Extractors. Bottom of tubes with "1180A", "NOT FOR BALL" "11B / 12M", and Birmingham proofs. Splinter forearm with ebony forearm, Deely style latch release, and point pattern checkering. Iron engraved with English style scroll and case colored on the interior. Boxlock action engraved with rose and scroll, "Richard Ellis & Son" in ribbons on both side of action, action flats with "ANSON & DEELY'S / PATENT 3182" and faint Birmingham proofs. Double triggers protected by a long tang trigger guard with serial number just behind trigger guard. Depressed and checkered sidepanels with tear drops reminiscent of Parker panels. Automatic safety. Brass shield at wrist, just ahead of comb. Point and wave checkering about the wrist, with a checkered star at pommel of the Prince of Wales grip. Oval inset into stock at toe line reads "C Naber". Stock of a lightly marbled walnut terminates in a horn buttplate. Housed in a canvas wrapped case with brass tables, lid reads "C. NABOR / HYDE PARK / ST. LOUIS", with reproduction Von Lengerke & Detmold trade label, charge table, 10 gauge snapcaps, 3 piece cleaning rod, glass oil bottle, and cleaning tips. Folded piece of paper indicates restoration by Pete Mazur. CONDITION: Excellent as restored, retaining virtually all of the reapplied browning to barrels with a few areas of thinning. Case colors on action are faded with good amounts retained in recessed and protected areas. Stocks are very good as sanded and refinished, with some softening to edges as a result (drop points are heavily softened), checkering recut and sharp. Horn buttplate with some minor inclusions. Mechanically fine, bores are excellent with some minor pits towards chamber. Case is excellent as made for the gun.
