Shoe lump barrels equipped with a solid concave, tapering game rib with brass bead at front, with one smooth area reading "J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" with standing warrior at rib extension, relieved for sideclips. Tubes both marked with "SPECIAL - GEWEHR - LAUF - / STAHL" with triple interlocking rings and "FRIED. KRUPP. A.G. / ESSEN". Underside of barrels with "(Eagle) / N" nitro proofs, 16 gauge 2 - 1/2" designation, 644 code for 1944, and matching serial number Splinter forearm with horn tip inlay, Deely style latch release, and point pattern checkering. Interior has matching last 3 digits "360". Scalloped back boxlock action with well cut game vignettes, left depicting 3 mallards mid flight in a marshland, right depicting a pointer alerting on pheasants, 2 ground bound and 1 taking off. Bottom of action with "J.P. SAUER & SOHN / SUHL" with accenting wriggle work and floral scroll throughout. Recoil shields with sideclips. Greener cfrossbolt, automatic safety, and double triggers protected by a short tang trigger guard. Pistol grip stock with sidepanels, checkering about the wrist, pistol grip with vacant screw slot from previous attachment, pancake shadowline cheekpiece, and sling stud at toe line with matching stud on island screwed to underside of barrel rib. Buttplate of horn with intertwined double "S" logo. Housed in a contemporary rubberized wrap case with green baize lining, partitioned for gun and accessories. CONDITION: Barrels retain the majority of their bluing, approximately 70-80%, with handling marks and marks from the field throughout, some have silvered, and thinning towards the breech from contact with hand. Forearm solid and strong, horn tip a replacement, with metal essentially gunmetal grey from use, excepting upper half of latch. Action gunmetal grey with case colors in protected areas, such as behind recoil shields and around trigger guard. Stock very good with some wooden inserts on left side repairing a knot and a slightly larger piece at plate. Mechanically fine excepting the ejectors which are out of time and fire right first. Bores are very good, bright, with some minor abrasions from use.
