Shoe lump barrels are equipped with ejectors, solid tapered concave game rib with white plastic bead front sight, anti-glare matting, and "Genoss. d. Buchsenmacher-Ferlach" in machined out area of rib. Hidden Greener crossbolt. Tops of barrels with Bohler steel designations, barrel flats with both English and German proofs: British proofs indicate Nitro proofing for 2 - 3/4" 12 gauge ammo with an 18.2 IBD, German proofs are all but gone with most legible "KAL 12 '70". Splinter forearm with point pattern checkering and a Deely style latch release is lightly engraved with geometric and running scroll, marked "9.9" on the interior. Sideplated boxlock action is well engraved, with a covey of pheasants on left plate in a wooded scene, 3 mallards on right plate, 2 in flight and 1 on the water, bottom with a vignette of a quail preparing to take off of a branch. Action flats with British nitro proof, serial number, and "642.50". Double triggers are protected by a long tang flat bottom trigger guard with light scroll and border engraving. A dark European walnut stock with point pattern checkering about the wrist terminates in a hard rubber buttplate. Filled cylinders where sling swivel was installed visible behind wrist checkering and faintly ahead of forearm. Housed in a canvas-wrapped case with leather tabs, stenciled on lid "THE EARL JERMYN" (an old term for the Marquess of Bristol) compartmentalized for the gun when broken apart, associated. CONDITION: Overall very good as rehabilitated, retaining virtually all of the barrel bluing with some thinning to sides and discoloration about the rib. Stocks with numerous superficial handling marks, abrasions and dings from the field, with a few minor chips to forearm. Receiver is essentially dove grey with crisp engraving and some minor age spotting. Blued trigger guard is very good with some thinning and losses at edges from use. Mechanics need attention as ejectors do not work (no mechanism in forearm), bores are excellent with some minor frosting towards the chambers.
