Pre-World War II German made Model 301E made by Gebruder Merkel in Suhl, Germany in 1940. Blued 29 - 1/4" Bohler Steel barrels in 16 gauge with 2 - 3/4" chambers, raised matted rib, ejectors, and fixed Full and Improved Cylinder chokes. Coin finished, heavy chisel type game scene engraved scalloped action with cocking indicators, double triggers, and non-automatic tang safety. Finely checkered figured walnut pistol grip stock with horn buttplate and grip cap, and matching Merkel 3-piece forearm with latch release. Comes in later period trunk case. CONDITION: 90% factory barrel blue with light edge wear. Good action finish with sharp engraving. Worn varnish with line from recoil boot and some heavy hunting dings and scratches. Good bores and mechanics.
