Lot consists of: (A) US circa 1800-1820 eagle head pommel saber with curved blade that is decorated for about half its length with fire blued panels, each featuring 3 gold inlaid patriotic and foliate motifs on either side. Blade exhibits a gray patina that gets heavier toward the tip with traces of original blued finish. There is an old museum number engraved on the obverse blade. Brass hilt with stirrup knucklebow that is slotted to accommodate a sword knot. Brass eagle head pommel with nicely spiraled bone grip. Hilt exhibits a dark patina, and grip exhibits a honey patina with a few hairlines. CONDITION: Good. (B) US circa 1820-1840s eagle head pommel saber with curved blade that is decorated for about half its length with fire blued panels, each featuring 3 gold inlaid patriotic and foliate motifs on either side. Blade exhibits a gray patina with decent amounts of original blued finish and gold inlaid designs. No visible maker mark. Brass hilt with languets, 1 of which is adorned with an eagle. Stirrup knucklebow with scrolled designs that leads to an eagle head pommel. The feathers morph into a backstrap that accommodates a carved bone grip. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with generous traces of original gilding. Grip intact with minor separation and wear. CONDITION: Good.
