Lot consists of: (A) Circa 1820-1840s Federal Period eagle head pommel saber that features an unmarked blade and is decorated with gold inlaid patriotic and foliate motifs for about 1/4 of its length. The blade exhibits a chocolate/gray patina with slightly muted motifs that exhibit nice traces of their original gold embellishment. 5-ball guard and knucklebow with prominent eagle head pommel. Hilt exhibits a mellow patina with traces of original gilding. Fluted bone grip with scattered blemishes from handling. Complete with scabbard that features brass mounts, lower mount exhibits traces of period fire bluing. Scabbard remains sturdy with slight bends and creases, mounts exhibit scattered small dents. CONDITION: Good. (B) Circa 1820-1840s Federal Period eagle head pommel saber that features an unmarked blade and is decorated with gold inlaid patriotic and foliate motifs for about half of its length. Etched panels separate the gold inlaid designs and the panel was most likely originally fire blued. Blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes and evidence of an older polishing. Brass hilt with shell languets foliate quillon. Stirrup knucklebow and eagle head pommel with pronounced capstan. Hilt exhibits nice traces of original gilding. Fluted bone grip with scattered chips toward pommel. Complete with leather scabbard that features line engraved mounts. Upper mount features a carry ring and stud. Mounts remains tightly secured to the scabbard body. Tight seam with repaint over scattered blemishes and noticeable creases, however the scabbard is sturdy. CONDITION: Good.
