3rd model manufactured in 1870. Standard 27" round barrel chambered in .44 Henry with 24" magazine tube, 2-line Winchester address, barleycorn front sight, and v-notch rear sight modified from a ladder. Plain walnut musket forend with 3 bands. Straight grip stock with brass tool trap butt plate. Tool compartment retains an original 5-piece cleaning rod. Musket is accompanied by a well-fitting unmarked socket bayonet. CONDITION: Very good. Iron components are a pleasing, even, chocolate brown. Brass displays a rich and mellow patina, with some areas beginning to darken and a layer of protective wax. Forend is very good as cleaned with some scattered bumps and a split on the left side ahead of the forward band. Stock is an excellent replacement; the buttplate not matching. Strong bore. Good mechanics. Bayonet is bright with some light evidence of cleaned oxidation.
