This wonderful special order deluxe rifle was originally shipped on June 15, 1887. Fit with a blued 26" octagon barrel chambered in .40-82 with 2-line address and a nickel-plated full-length magazine tube. Nickel-plated sporting sights. Brilliantly nickel-plated solid frame with a single set trigger. Finely checkered figured walnut forend with nickel-plated nose cap. Matching gloss finished XX figured walnut stock with checkered, ebony inlaid pistol grip and a nickel-plated solid crescent rifle butt plate. Inside of the lower tang stamped with "314 XX" assembly number and wood grade, matching assembly numbers also observed stamped in the stock channel and inside of the butt plate. An included copy of a 1998 dated factory letter confirms all options, including finish listing "Blued barrel / Balance nickeled". CONDITION: Excellent for a rifle of its age. The vast majority of the thinning factory blue is retained on the barrel with an area of patina over cleaned oxidation towards the muzzle. Bountiful amounts of lustrous original nickel are retained on other components with some minor spotting, some light surface scratches, and a few spots of cleaned oxidation on the receiver. Stocks are especially fine with some scattered impressions and scratching, checkering remaining sharp with other surfaces retaining a nice gloss. Strong bore with minor abrasion. Fine mechanics. This exceptional deluxe '86 with a striking, very rare special order finish would make a fantastic addition to any advanced collection.
