Received in warehouse January 9, 1895, and shipped out October 13, 1898. 1 of around 1000 1886s produced in .38-70, this example fit with a 26" octagon barrel with 2-line address and full-length magazine tube. Sporting sights, an additional tang-mounted aperture sight is also present. Case-hardened receiver with plain trigger. Stocks are smooth straight-grain American walnut with steel nose cap and solid crescent rifle butt plate. A copy of a 1997 dated factory letter confirms options. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel retains significant portions of fading factory blue. Strong traces of case colors visible on the receiver with the balance exhibiting a silvery patina. Stocks are fine with some abrasions and impressions, one larger ding present along the toe line. Strong, frosted bore. Fine mechanics.
