William Marston of New York produced only an approximated 1,500 3-barrel pocket pistols from 1858 to 1864, with approximately 800 early examples such as this fit with a sliding clip point bowie style blade. Otherwise standard with 3 - 1/8" superposed tip-up barrels chambered in .22 RF, small blade front sight, broadly engraved and silver plated brass frame, and 2-piece smooth walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels have largely drifted to a pleasing brown patina. Frame and latch retain the vast majority of their plating, with a few areas thinning to patinaed brass. Grips are good, showing some wear with a sliver missing along the inside of the right panel. Bores are dark with black powder abrasion. Action requires attention and currently does not hold in the cocked position. A rare and desirable mid-19th century self-defense cut and shoot pistol.
