A very small, true peanut-size Deringer manufactured circa 1850 to 1870. Fit with a browned 1 - 3/4" barrel stamped over the breech "DERINGER / PHILADELA" with a sunburst "P" proof between a pair of German silver bands. Dovetail German silver blade front sight and v-notch rear. Foliate scroll engraved back action percussion lock bears standard "DERINGER / PHILADELA" markings. Stocked in American walnut with a classic checkered bird's head grip and engraved German silver mounts, including cap box butt. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel exhibits a pleasing brown patina, the action fading to dove gray. Stock is good retaining sharp checkering with a repaired break. Mounts are bright. Fine mechanics. An attractive and desirable example of one of Henry Deringer's smallest pistols.
