Manufactured in 1855 during the first year of production. Fit with a 3 - 1/2" octagon barrel with pin front sight and 2-line rollstamp reading "COLT'S PAT / 1855" and "ADDRESS COL. COLT / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". 5-shot .28 caliber percussion cylinder rollmarked with crisp and largely legible Indian fight scene. High polish blued finish throughout with case-hardened loading lever and hammer. Grips are smooth 1-piece ivory. Housed in a period partitioned mahogany case with eagle flask, Colts Patent 2 cavity mold, and UMC cap tin. CONDITION: Very fine. Revolver retains the majority of its lustrous factory applied blue, some areas fading to gray patina with some areas of cleaned oxidation. Bright flashes of case color visible on loading lever. Grips are very fine, exhibiting a very attractive mellow honey patina, somewhat shy to the straps. Strong bore with black powder abrasion. Fine mechanics. Case is very good with some scattered surface marks and a split present on the lid.
