Manufactured 1862. Standard 4" configuration of the iconic '49 Pocket. Roll mark address on top of the barrel, with approximately 75% coverage of well-executed arabesque scroll on a punch dot background. Typical Colt markings including the "apostrophe mark" on barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, butt; cylinder and rammer assembly have partial matching numbers, wedge is an unnumbered replacement. Ivory grips with wooden spacer. Housed in a period case with wine-colored lining and partitioned for an Eley Bros cap tin, Colt's Patent 2 cavity bullet mold with sprue cutter, and a powder flask with an embossed eagle. CONDITION: Metal is essentially dove grey throughout, with traces of finish retained in the most protected areas. Brass retains no silver and is a deep golden color. Ivory has good grain but has numerous black lines common to ivory. Cylinder has numerous little nicks and bites, with a heavily softened scene. Bore with visible rifling and oxidation throughout. Mechanics need attention and will not hold on full cock. Accessories are very good, flask with traces of gilding in protected areas. Lining reglued.
