Produced under contract by Alfred Jenks & Son. Full length 40" barrel opened up to smoothbore post-war with bayonet lug front sight and 3-position rear sight. Percussion lock marked with central eagle motif and "U.S./ BRIDESBURG" with "1863" date at tail. Full length walnut stock retains faint cartouches. Standard iron mounts. Complete with a tulip head ram rod and complete but torn period leather sling. CONDITION: Very good. Metal has largely turned to a pleasing brown patina, the lock plate cleaned to gray. Stock appears lightly cleaned, some scattered impressions still visible. Fine mechanics.
