Standard configuration K98k manufactured at the Waffenwerke Brunn arsenal in Bystrica. The receiver is stamped with a partially indiscernible "(Eagle)/ WaAA80" waffenamt above Waffenwerke Brunn, Bystrica's clandestine manufacturer code "dou." above the 2-digit year of manufacture "42", indicating that this example was manufactured during the arsenals first year of K98k production. Metal components are blued, while the stock and handguard comprise laminated wood. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, trigger, trigger guard, floorplate, rear sight assembly, bolt assembly, and barrel bands. Stock and handguard are mismatched and appear to be of postwar Czech manufacture. Rifle is complete with a period brown leather sling and cleaning rod. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting thinning and wear overall that shows through to pleasant gray and brown patinas. Very bright bore, exhibiting some very light pitting and well-defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture exhibits scattered superficial marks from handling and storage but is otherwise fine.
