Standard configuration K98k manufactured at the Steyr-Daimler-Puch arsenal in 1941. The receiver is stamped with Steyr's clandestine "bnz." code above the 2-digit year of manufacture "41" over the chamber, with Steyr "(Eagle)/ WaA623" waffenamts stamped on the right. Right side of buttstock bears an "(Eagle)/ M" stamp above 2 Steyr "(Eagle)/ WaA623" waffenamts, indicating issue to the Kriegsmarine. Metal components are blued, with the stock and handguard comprising solid walnut. Bolt assembly is missing its safety lever, cocking piece, and firing pin. Forward trigger guard retention screw is an ill-fit replacement. All numbers match and include the receiver, follower, trigger, barrel, barrel bands, rear sight assembly, bolt body, bolt shroud, extractor, buttplate, stock, and handguard. CONDITION: Metal components exhibit wear and thinning overall, with the balance showing through to a gray patina and showing some scattered spots of mild surface oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting some mild pitting and well-defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered marks, nicks, and minor impressions from storage and handling but is otherwise fine. Handguard bears a grievous crack and should be handled with care. A desirable example of a Kriegsmarine issued Steyr "bnz./41" code K98k bolt action rifle.
