Circa 1892. 28 - 1/8" dovetail lump barrels constructed of ladder Damascus with mushroom bead front sight, and "Westley Richards & Co. London." on solid tapered concave game rib. Doll's head rib extension with a shell motif, and light engraving at the breeches. Underside of tubes with serial number, water tables with appropriate proofs for a 16 gauge choked shotgun; no indication of nitro. Splinter tip forearm with Deely style latch release and point pattern checkering throughout. Exterior of release and iron are lightly engraved. Contrasting inlay at tip, blued latch, and case colored iron; interior numbered "671" in wood. Boxlock action with serial number and Birmingham proofs, and various patent numbers. Sparse patches of scroll engraving with dressed edges. Top of action behind fences engraved "WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENT EJECTOR". Trigger guard protects dual triggers with serial number at tang. Automatic safety. Replacement very slightly smokey straight-grained stock with Prince of Wales grip, point pattern checkering around the wrist, a vacant vanity plate along belly, and a red rubber recoil pad with leather cover. CONDITION: Very good as totally refurbished. Barrels with excellent browning slightly softening the Damascus pattern, one small patch of corrosion on right tube and one small ding on left some other handling marks at breeches, including a cleaned patch of oxidation. Underside near lump with oxidation. Stocks are very good as replaced with crisp checkering and excellent color. A few very minor repairs with wood fill, mostly on left side of stock near sidepanels. Action retains virtually all of the later case colors with some minor handling marks, blue commensurate. Mechanics need attention as lever does not center upon closing and safety will not disengage, bores are very good with minor frosting. Ejectors are in time. Barrels are tight on face, ring a little hollow.
