This American stocked Revolutionary War musket has a French 1728 barrel that begins octagonal at the breech and tapers to round after the first 10" or so. There are 2 indistinct French proofs on the left side towards the breech and "FC.C.5" in large letters on the top flat. The lock, sideplate, trigger guard, and buttplate tang are also from a French Model 1728, while the two barrel bands are from a 1766/68. Crude American trigger. Stocked in cherry. Complete with an associated iron ramrod that measures only 28". CONDITION: All iron components retain a dark brown surface. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration and functions well. Lock shows some pitting. Stock retains a pleasing dark patina, some scattered cracks and splinters. A very nice American assembled Revolutionary War musket.
