Circa 1740-60. For a nearly identical example, see pages 95-96 in "Of Sorts for Provincials" by Jim Mullins. Straight triangular colichemarde blade with faint traces of engraved designs. Boat guard decorated with gadrooned edges and a clamshell on top. Hilt has areas of gadrooning and a ball-shaped gadrooned pommel. Ornate grip wrapped with strips of silver alternating with braided silver wire of varying thicknesses. CONDITION: Blade mostly a grey patina with some areas of heavier brown patina. Hilt retains a pleasing pewter patina with some darker areas. A very attractive small sword.
