Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by Mauser in 1942. The receiver is stamped with the 2-digit year of manufacture, "42", with 2 Mauser "(Eagle) / 135" waffenamts followed by an eagle firing proof stamped on the right. Toggle bears Mauser's clandestine "byf" manufacturer code. Metal components are salt blued, with the checkered grips and magazine bottom made of black plastic. All numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open device, barrel, receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle axle pin. This example is accompanied by a 1939 Karl Bocker manufactured brown leather holster containing an unmarked loading tool and a small handwritten tag that appears to read "german Luger/ Capt. Jos. Criati", with the last word being indiscernible. CONDITION: Very good overall, with metal components retaining the majority of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting mild edge wear overall, scattered marks from handling and storage, and some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas. Very bright bore, exhibiting light surface level pitting and sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few scattered marks from handling and storage but are otherwise fine. Leather holster remains malleable, exhibiting age-related cracking and crazing overall.
