Dovetail lump barrels with solid, smooth, tapered, concave game rib equipped with a steel bead front sight and signed "Holland & Holland" on right barrel and "13, Bruton Street, London" on left. Barrel flats with recent proof for 2 - 3/4" chambers, nominal 16.8 IBD, nitro proof. Bottom of tubes with serial numbers. Splinter forearm with matching serial number on interior iron is checkered in point pattern with a Deely style latch release and dressed at the edges with tendrils of scroll. Water table with view and proof marks and serial numbers, and is equipped with back action hand detachable peninsula locks, signed "Holland & Holland" on each plate, and "Hollands / Ejector" on bottom. Gas vent strikers. Light line engraving at edges. Automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold. Double triggers are protected by a long tang trigger guard with serial number engraved with dressed edges en suite. English straight grip stock with point pattern checkering at the wrist and made of a relatively tame straight grain walnut. Brass plate at toe line; checkered butt. Stock is cast off for a right-handed shooter, approx. 1/2". Leather wrapped case with "P.R. DAVIES-Cooke", with an old tag that appears to indicate him as Colonel P.R. Davies Cook. Wine-colored baize relined with 2 charge cards, one for this gun when it had 16 gauge barrels dated 1911, and a more recent one when reproofed. Other accessories comprise snap caps, oil bottle, and cleaning tools. Trade label in lid and extractor notice in base. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated when reproofed. Newer barrels retain the majority, 80-90%, of a slightly pluming blue with some silvering to high edges, particularly at breech and muzzles. Action with patterns of their case colors, crisp legends. Forearm iron, trigger guard, and lever retain the vast majority of their rebluing. Stock has an older refinish and some handling marks since, including a few minor chips; checkering recut and one small replaced piece on right side of forearm. Bores are very good with some light frosting. Ejectors are strong and in time; barrels are on face and ring like church bells. Case is very good with strong partitions and some other age-related distress, exterior moreso than interior.
