Legendary knife maker and Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame Member Buster Warenski started professionally making knives full-time in 1975, and is best known for his 3 Legacy Knives. These were the King Tut Dagger reproduction, the Fire and Ice Dagger, and the Gem of the Orient. Each of these knives was beautifully ornamented, with the Gem of the Orient incorporating 153 emeralds, 9 diamonds, gold filigree, and jade, and sold for $2.1 million. Warenski was the "sole author" on nearly all of his knives, meaning he did everything from making the knife to engraving to inlay. This Buster Warenski bowie knife has an 11" clip-point blade maker marked on ricasso. Guard is relief engraved with 18k gold vine on a stippled background. Bolsters are engraved to match with vine and floral relief engraving on a stippled background. Coffin shape handles have ivory grip scales and 4 pins. Grips are scrimshawed on left panel with an eagle with a ribbon saying "BORN FREE" in its beak. Scabbard is black leather and is engraved to match the bolsters on the drag and throat. CONDITION: Excellent+, with virtually all of the finishes remaining and scattered light handling marks on blade and scabbard.
