After the Mauser Factory was liberated in 1945, the French Army continued production of P.38 pistols until 1947 for French military and police use. This brushed blue finished k production block example is stamped on the slide with correct post-war "SVW / 46" code and French star proof. Standard 5" round barrel chambered for 9mm Para. Fit with a pair of characteristic ribbed stamped sheet steel grips, unusually finished in plum red. Complete with 1 magazine stamped with "P38 / U" and "jvd" code. Slide is discreetly marked on the underside with an Interarms import mark. A matching Interarms importer box with paperwork also accompanies this lot. CONDITION: Very good. Bountiful amounts of original arsenal applied blued finish is retained throughout with some high edge silvering. Grips retain the majority of their red finish, thinning to silvery gray patina consistent with normal use. Very good, strong bright bore. Mechanically fine. Box is fine with only light wear and foxing.
