19th-century bronze romantic dagger adorned with Baroque elements, including a pair of satyr at the drag, interspersed gadrooning and similar elements, scrollwork, a praying Madonna, and terminating into Iago killing Emilia from Shakespeare's "Tragedy of Othello, Moor of Venice" on the handle. 14" double-edged spearpoint blade with 3 running flutes, gold-washed edges with running scroll executed in negative space as bright steel. CONDITION: Excellent, with bronze turned a pleasant mellow patina with wear at high edges. Iago's right arm on handle is loose, but is still attached. Blade is bright with light wear, and nearly all of the gold wash remains. Would make a great addition to an art knife or classics collection.
