Late 18th century, in the English style as was popularized by sailors. 10" blade with a shallow diamond cross section, decorated with 2 sprigs of scroll and florals in gold on each side and a fire-blued panel. Gilt brass floral crossguard, turned ivory grip. Scabbard with floral motifs, 2 hangers, and an applied naval anchor near throat. CONDITION: Blade with the majority of the fire bluing with some scattered darkness throughout and losses to fire bluing concentrated at ricasso, with balance a gunmetal grey. Brass with gilt in protected areas, scabbard has handling marks throughout with visible solder around anchor. Ivory grip is very good with handling mark and 2 cracks, each approximately 1".
