There is perhaps no other firearm trademark more iconic or striking as the Rampant Colt, associated with the brand since the 1850s. The magnificent representation in bronze after Thomas Palmerton boldly showcases a lifelike rearing colt with broken lances through his mouth and between his front legs standing on the Colt dome. Mounted to a hardwood base, this example was presented by the Colt Collectors Association "TO RICHARD "DICK" BURDICK / IN APPRECIATION OF HIS SERVICE TO THE COLT COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION / SERVING ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 16 YEARS AND 12 OF THOSE YEARS AS OUR TREASURER / 1987 - 2003". The base is also mounted with additional award plaques for Best Rampant Colt Articles presented at the 1998 CCA Denver Show, 2007 CCA Reno Show, and 2010 CCA Tulsa Show. CONDITION: Very good overall. Bronze displays a rich toned patina throughout with some minor verdigris around the mouth. Base is fine, one presentation plate starting to separate with areas of discoloration. A stunning bronze and wonderful memorial to Dick Burdick's many contributions to Colt collecting. PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection.
