Standard configuration K98k manufactured for Gustloff Werke in 1941. The receiver bears Gustloff's manufacturer code "bcd" above the date code "41", with a "1" followed by an "(Eagle)/ 1" waffenamt stamped on the right, indicating that this receiver was supplied by Astrawerke in Chemnitz. It is this cataloger's opinion that this was assembled by a Depot, indicated by the lack of acceptance proofs on the receiver, a faint Imperial crowned proof on the bolt shroud and forward trigger guard screw, the serial number font and size, as well as the "HZA.Gw" proof that is stamped on the buttplate. Metal components are blued, while the stock and handguard are laminated wood. Stock and handguard have been revarnished at one point in time. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, floorplate, trigger guard, barrel bands, and stock. Rear sight base's original number has been lined out and is forced matched. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their period blue finish, exhibiting areas of what appears to be a period applied lacquer finish. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Stock is excellent as refinished, exhibiting some minor marks from handling and storage.
