Late 18th century, in the English style as was popularized by sailors. 9" blade with a sharply angled diamond cross-section, decorated with an etched panel with floral motifs and a fouled anchor. Crossguard in the form of serpents, with waisted ivory grip and floral capstan. Brass scabbard with 2 hangers and nautical motifs, including a crowned fouled anchor, a trident, and a flag with a pair of axes, reminiscent of a fasces. CONDITION: Blade is excellent, bright, with excellent scene. Brass is excellent with some handling marks and minor discoloring in recesses. Ivory grip is very good with some black striations.
