Manufactured 1912 per the included factory letter, which further indicates shipment to E.G. Koenigs Sons, Newark, New Jersey, on February 6th, 1912, in a shipment of 3 as a standard 2" .25 ACP with blue finish and unlisted grips. Configuration today is the same, with the earlier larger 2 line 1 block patent and address information on left side of slide, no pony at rear, and "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE .25" on right side under the ejection port. Case colored trigger, grip safety, and thumb safety. Trigger guard with VP and "5" subinspector proofs on left side of trigger guard. Grips are the early Type Is with the stylized C about the rampant Colt and "COLT" in ribbon across top. In a maroon fliptop box with 1908 pamphlet, and marked in modern ink on the bottom "5-04-2013 SGW". PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining the vast majority of the Colt bluing with some superficial scratches from handling and age throughout. Some mild silvering to high edges and reciprocating areas, heavier on right side over left. Case colors have heavily faded, perhaps 20%. Mechanically fine, bore with somewhat softened rifling and mild oxidation throughout. Box is good with heavy rubs to corners and other typical age related distress but complete and solid.
