Per the included factory letter, this shipped as a blued 1903 Pocket Hammerless with unlisted stocks to Transportation Officer, Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts, for the Commanding Officer, on December 30th, 1944, on Colt Factory Order 4711, with 1,583 guns in shipment, sold to the U.S. Government. The pistol has the standard 1903 Pocket Hammerless features, has a "U.S. PROPERTY" stamp on right side of the frame, checkered walnut grips with flush medallions, and been subjected to a parkerized finish. Housed in a 2-part kraft box with 2 extra magazines, Colt 1903 pamphlet, and has matching serial number on bottom written in grease pencil. There's a modern script "NEW (Nein?, difficult to read). PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the parkerized finish with some very minor handling marks. Some staining from oil that does not detract. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting. Box is fine with age related to distress, some peeling. Accessories are very good.
