Classic California style dirk made by famous cutler Will & Finck with original stamped and patented Will and Finck nickeled scabbard. Blade measures 6" long by 1 - 1/8" wide with an overall length of approximately 10." Ricasso is stamped: "WILL & FINCK / S.F. CAL". Marine ivory grips are adorned with scalloped brass pommel cap and throat cap. Some dark leeching is observed from the brass to the edges of the ivory where touching. A similar example can be found in "Knifemakers of Old San Francisco," by Bernard Levine, pg.47. PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Blade is in high polish with evidence of past light cleaning or scabbard wear. Tip and cutting edge are near perfect with no evidence of grinding, etc.
