Manufactured 1909 per serial number. Classic configuration with stub hammer instead of later spur and triangle milled slide serrations at rear. Half moon front sight and U notch round top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2-line 2-block patent and address information with encircled Rampant Colt at rear. Right side with "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". Frame with serial number on left side above trigger guard; guard with Colt VP proof and "6" subinspector proof. Hard rubber grips with "COLT" in banner across top and inescutcheons with rampant Colts. Heel magazine release with full blue magazine. PROVENANCE: Richard "Dick" Burdick collection. CONDITION: Metal retains the majority of the Colt high polish blue finish with fire blue on trigger. Scattered areas of superficial scratching and handling marks throughout from age and handling. Some splotches of silver and mossing, particularly toward high edges. Typical silvering at high edges from use. Hammer with strong traces of case color, little vibrancy left. Some distension still visible about subinspector proof from application of stamp. Mechanically fine, bore has strong rifling and light pitting and frosting.
