Archetypal configuration of the Colt Ace with tall serrated ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight. Right side with Colt Ace rollmark, left with 2-line 1-block patent and address information. Pre-floating chamber barrel design. Appropriate proofs on trigger guard for subinspectors and Colt's VP proof. Small parts comprise spurred checkered hammer, thick tab safety, slide release, short milled trigger, magazine release, long A1 grip safety, and arched knurled mainspring housing. Fully checkered walnut grips. 2-tone magazine with loading assist that follows contour of the body. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Near excellent, retaining the vast majority of the original Colt bluing with appropriate distension around proofs from application of stamp. Legends are crisp. Some scattered handling marks throughout, some silvering, including a takedown mark. Silvering to high edges and reciprocating areas consistent with holster use and firing. Front strap with patches of dove grey showing through. Mechanically fine; bore is excellent with strong rifling.
