Manufactured in 1862 during the Civil War. Classic polish-blued 5" octagon barrel with 2-line Hartford address and brass pin front sight. 6-shot .31 caliber cylinder rollmarked with the stagecoach holdup scene. Grips are varnished 1-piece walnut with silver plated straps. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel exhibits bountiful amounts of brilliant original blue with some silvering along the high edges and other minor imperfections. Cylinder likewise retains most of its factory blue with a sharp scene. Case colors are very strong and bright. Recoil shield and hammer have largely faded to gray. Grip straps retain the vast majority of their mellow toned silver plating with some edge wear and areas of thinning. Strong bore with only light evidence of period use. Fine mechanics. Grips are especially fine with some minor impressions, 1 larger mark present on the right side. Full or partial matching numbers observed on the barrel assembly, frame, grip straps, cylinder, arbor, loading lever, and wedge. A very nice example.
