Remington's first metallic cartridge handgun. Less than 1000 are believed to have been produced circa 1861-1862. The pepperbox features a 3 - 1/4" fluted 6-barrel cluster chambered in .22 Short with individual pin sights. Unlike later Remington-Elliot derringers, the whole barrel cluster rotated when the ring trigger is pulled. Grips are 2-piece hard rubber. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good. Metal displays a silvery patina with traces of original blue, strong markings, and some surface frosting. Grips are very good with handling marks and one small chip on the right base. Bores have well-defined rifling with some black powder abrasion. Good mechanics.
