Manufactured in 1878. This is a no record gun. Single line address on top of the barrel. "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". 3-line patent dates on the left side of the frame. ".45 CAL" on the left side rear trigger guard. 1-piece varnished wood grip. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and the back strap. Last four of serial number on the barrel under the ejector housing, cylinder, and in the back channel of the grip. Assembly number (6407) on the loading gate and the bottom of the frame. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Gun retains traces of the original factory-applied blue finish in the protected areas. The remainder of the gun has turned to a gray patina. Grip has had extra varnish applied. Bore is dark with some pitting in the lands and grooves. Some of the screws show wear. Gun has all 4 clicks. It locks up and indexes fine.
