Originally manufactured circa 1877. Replacement 5 - 1/2" barrel with early 1-line script address and blade front sight. Underside of frame stamped "LD" for sub-inspector Lewis Draper. Draper assisted John T. Cleveland in inspecting frames in the 1876/1877 time frame with his marking scarce. Frame refinished blue, likely at the time of conversion to an Artillery model, which was not uncommon. The top half of the cylinder as well as the top strap of the revolver have been blown off, likely from shooting poorly loaded ammunition. Hammer has been repaired. Grips are contemporary 2-piece walnut. Serial numbers are mixed throughout with no ejector rod assembly present. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Poor. Metal surfaces display a gray brown patina with areas of pitting and factory blued finish. Patent and "US" markings on frame are illegible. Grips are good with minor impressions. Strong, lightly frosted bore. Mechanically inoperable.
