According to the Colt Factory archive letter, this gun shipped as a .45 Colt with a 4 - 3/4" barrel, silver plated finish, carved steerhead ivory stocks, and factory engraving. It was shipped to Baldwin Bros. in New Orleans, Louisiana, for Russek Bros. on July 23, 1931, in a shipment of 1 gun. 2-line barrel address "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." on top of the barrel. Rolled caliber mark on the left side of the barrel "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45". 2-line patent and Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the frame. Factory scroll and floral engraving over a punch dot background. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. There are a few letters that go with this gun from R.L. Wilson and others documenting it. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Gun remains in stunning condition. It retains virtually all of the factory applied silver plate finish. There are a few places of minute chipping and flaking of the silver plating. Right grip has a carved bullshead. Both grips have silver Colt medallions. They show some age cracks and some aging. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves.
