Manufactured in 1889 in military configuration. Standard blued 32 - 5/8" round barrel chambered for .45-70 and proofed at breech "V / P / (Eagle Head)". Blade front sight and "R" marked Buffington rear. Case hardened beech block marked "US / MODEL / 1884". Blued lock plate marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" with federal eagle motif. The full-length walnut military style stock is stamped with an "SWP / 1889" cartouche and encircled "P" firing proof in addition to small rack number. Standard blued iron steel mounts. CONDITION: There has been a slot cut in the inside left of chamber making this unsafe to shoot, however the bore is excellent displaying sharp rifling. The vast majority of arsenal applied blued finish is retained throughout with some areas of toning. Significant portions of muted case colors are retained on the breech block and tang. Stock has some expected impressions throughout. Great display or parts gun.
