Per included factory letter, this pistol was shipped August 25th, 1922, to Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Co, Louisville, Kentucky, c/o Yazo Hardware, as a blued factory engraved gun with pearl grips. Standard configuration of the 1908 VP with approximately B class coverage of well-cut floral scroll with wrigglework, striated shading, and light line work at borders. Typical blue and case colored finish, and 2 piece pearl grips with deep-dish Colt medallions and good fire. Housed in a Colt 1908 box with Uline protek wrap and 1908 brochure. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Metal retains the majority, approximately 60%, of the factory bluing with appropriate distension around stamps from application, with most losses to high edges and across top of slide, with other scattered marks from handling and storage Trigger and grip safety with strong case colors, grip safety essentially dove grey along the back and with silvering to reciprocating areas. Grips are very good with attractive fire, free of cracks or chips. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling. Box is missing label from lid, with some age relate distress, rubs, and tattering.
