Manufactured in 1852 with classic features including 7 - 1/2" half octagon to round barrel with nickel silver blade front sight and hammer notch rear sight. Aftermarket engraved with donut scroll on a cross-hatched background with "Colt's Patent" marking on frame hand engraved in a ribbon border, and accenting clamshell on top of backstrap. Replacement hammer is engraved with Gustave Young style wolf's head. Cylinder is roll marked with Texas Ranger scene. Mounted with aftermarket high grade piano finish walnut 1-piece grips. Matching serial numbers observed on rammer, wedge, barrel, cylinder, cylinder arbor, frame, trigger guard, butt, and backstrap channel on grips. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Excellent, with approximately 80% of the applied blue finish remaining and engraving crisp. Frame is turned a gray patina. Silver plating has mostly been cleaned away from brass components, which are now turning a mellow patina. Grips show no major signs of distress. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Would make an excellent display piece.
