Serial numbered 157022, manufactured in 1866. Fit with a polish-blued 8" barrel with German silver blade front sight and 1-line New York address. 6-shot rebated .44 caliber percussion cylinder rolled with the naval engagement scene. Case-hardened frame cut for shoulder stock with matching blued steel grip straps. Smooth walnut 1-piece walnut grips. Accompanied by a period walnut shoulder stock with silver plated brass mounts numbered 156356. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains the majority of its original rich and lustrous factory blue thinning to gray patina in some areas. Significant portions of factory blue are also retained on the trigger guard and butt, the grip straps largely fading to gray. Cylinder retains significant traces of factory blue with a largely legible cylinder scene. Frame exhibits a few flashes of case color with some patterning but is largely gray. A few areas of bright colors displayed on the loading lever. Grips are very good, with some finish loss and wear at the base, and scattered impressions. Very bright, strong bore. Crisp mechanics. Matching full or partial serial numbers overserved on the barrel assembly, frame, grip straps, cylinder, arbor, and wedge. Stock is fine. The majority of silver plating is retained on the mounts with spotting and areas of loss. Wood appears cleaned with scattered scratches and finish crackling, which do not detract from the overall attractiveness of this wonderful set.
