A popular sidearm in the Civil War, this example bears martial sub inspector marks on major components as well as a crisp boxed script "GP" inspector cartouche on the left grip. Standard configuration with polished blue finish, 8" octagon barrel stamped with 3-line "NEW MODEL" address, blade front sight, frame notch rear, 6-shot .44 caliber percussion cylinder, brass trigger guard, and smooth 2-piece walnut grips. Matching numbers observed on frame, cylinder, and barrel. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Fine. Significant portions of factory blue are retained, the balance fading to brown patina. Trigger guard displays a mellow mottled patina. Grips are fine with only light marks and wear. Excellent bore, very possibly unfired with grease still packed in the nipples. Mechanically fine.
