Circa 1940. Blued finish with 6" barrel marked on the left "COLT OFFICERS / MODEL 38 / HEAVY BARREL". Fitted with a "COLT-KING SUPER TARGET" marked ventilated rib with mirror front sight and adjustable rear. Wide offset King target hammer, checkered trigger, and checkered backstrap. Grips are 2-piece checkered walnut inset with silver rampant Colt medallions. Accompanied by a King advertising pamphlet. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good. The vast majority of the factory applied finishes are retained with high edge silvering and a turn line. An area of impressions present on the left side of the frame which have not broken through the blue. Grips are very good overall. Mirror bore with well-defined rifling. Mechanically fine.
