Manufactured in 1863 at the height of the Civil War for martial use with sub-inspector stamps on major components and inspector cartouches on both sides of the grip. Standard configuration with blued barrel, 1-line New York address, German silver blade front sight, rebated cylinder rolled with naval engagement scene, case hardened frame cut for shoulder stock with matching blued steel back strap, silver plated brass trigger guard, and 1-piece smooth walnut grips. Matching full or partial serial numbers observed throughout. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good+. Barrel displays significant portions of original blue, especially in protected areas, the balance drifting to patina. Cylinder likewise retains traces of blue, mostly exhibiting a brown patina with a sharp scene. Frame has strong flashes of case color. Back strap largely faded to gray, the butt still retains most of its factory blue. Trigger guard has a few traces of silver but is essentially golden. Grips have moderate wear. Cartouches only partially legible. Very strong bore with some frosting in the grooves. Crisp mechanics. Overall far finer condition than martial used revolvers are usually found in.
