This iconic configuration of Model H-D Military has been fitted with an aftermarket red plastic bead front sight with a small inset mirror to enhance lighting (typical of King's work, but unmarked), an adjustable rear sight, round barrel that is turned at muzzle and starts to slabside at frame. Engraved with approximately 75% of well-cut acanthus scrollwork with stippled background shading; no signature observed. Fit with a pair of 2 piece ivory grips, carved with designs of a Japanese style dragon with glass eyes, nicely detailed. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Overall very good, retaining the vast majority of the newer blue finish applied after engraving, legends somewhat softened as a result. Barrel with some losses to a smooth gunmetal grey that mixes well with the bluing, mostly on sides and bottom. Frame with more, but still shows typical scattered random marks from handling and use. Grips are very good, screws appear to have been painted at one time, but only traces remain. Mechanically fine, bore is very good, bright, with strong rifling.
