Manufactured circa 1850. Desirable 6" polish blued octagon barrel with New York address, pin front sight, and hammer notch rear. 5-shot cylinder rolled with stagecoach holdup scene. Silver plated brass square back trigger guard and back strap; left over Model 1848 Baby Dragoon production which ended around serial number 14,000. Grips are 1-piece smooth walnut. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very fine. barrel retains the majority of its bright factory blue, wearing along the high edges with patina coming through. Cylinder displays a sharp scene with significant traces of original finish fading to brown patina. Frame colors have largely faded to patina as well. Grip straps retain the majority of their silver plating with freckling and wear. Grips have scattered impressions and wear around the base, remaining very good overall. Strong bore. Mechanically fine. Matching numbers observed throughout. A very nice early production Colt pocket revolver.
